Free training from the Orange City Fire Department, open to anyone who lives or works in the city. No experience, no equipment, no background in public safety required.
There are two ways in. Most people only ever need the first.
One Saturday morning
ReadyOrange Class
Get your household through the first 72 hours after a crisis. This class is built around hazards that actually reach Orange — wildfire, earthquake, flood.
You leave with a written plan you fill in during class. Offered multiple times year.
Hybrid, by cohort
CERT Academy
The full FEMA curriculum, online plus in person. Finish it and you're eligible to join Orange CERT.
Members carry City identification, serve at City events, train together year-round, and are recognized across the county.

Interested in the CERT Academy? Get on the list.
You aren't committing to anything by adding your name. The Academy runs when enough people raise their hand, so signing up is genuinely what moves the calendar. Expect roughly 20 hours of coursework and hands-on training, plus a City volunteer application and background check before you're placed on the roster.
Bring a class to your group
We'll bring preparedness training to your HOA, congregation, school, or business at no cost — including one-off sessions such as Stop the Bleed. If you can gather fifteen people, we'll come to you, at your site, on your calendar.
