The Hart Park pickleball courts and fitness circuit officially opened on May 6, 2026.  The 10 new lighted courts include seating, shade covers, a water bottle filling station, outdoor fitness equipment, bike rack and paddle racks.  (please also include the rules and revised FAQs):

Pickleball Court Rules

• Courts are to be used for pickleball only

• No bikes, skateboards, rollerblades, scooters, etc. allowed.

• City programs, permitted events, and maintenance have priority.
• No unauthorized private, group, or paid lessons.
• Players may not hold/reserve courts.
• No unauthorized tournaments or events
• No food or glass containers in the court area.
• No pets in the court area.
• Open play rules:

 

• Do not leave children under 12 unattended.
• It is recommended that skill levels progress from beginner (court 1) to advanced (court 10)
• Limit warm up time to 5 minutes and play to 1 game to 11 points (win by 2) if players are waiting - 4 on, 4 off.
• Rotate in using the designated paddle racks for each court.
• Court 10 is a challenge court, recommended for 3.5 players and up. Winners stay. After 3 consecutive wins - 4 on, 4 off.

Frequently Asked Questions

What will be the hours of operation?

• All courts at Hart Park are open during park hours, from 5:00 AM to 11:00 PM. Court lights will automatically shut off at 10:45 PM each evening to allow patrons time to safely exit the park before closing.

Are the courts fenced in?

• Yes! Each court is separated by 4’ fencing with pedestrian swing gates. Perimeter fencing is 6’ with windscreens.

Is there a fee to use the courts and can I reserve a court?

• No. Because a majority of this project was paid for with Federal funds, the City of Orange is currently unable to charge fees for the use of the courts; courts are available for open play.

Where is the closest restroom?

• Restrooms are available during park hours on the north and east sides of Hart Park.

Will the courts be lit?

• Yes, the courts will be lit and available on a timer until the facility closes.

Looking for a day to play a fun sports game with your friends, family or neighbors? 

There are various athletic fields throughout the City of Orange that may be reserved or used for drop-in use. All sports activity must be in-line with the intended purpose of the field (i.e. soccer play can only take place on a soccer or multipurpose field). Field space is limited due to various approved sport league use. 

On Community Field Days

• Groups of more than 10 people have the option to obtain a one-time use permit for recreational sport activities (maximum of 2 hours/day) on Community Field Days.  Organized sport leagues looking for field space should review the City's Field Allocation Policy. General permit deadline restrictions apply to sport field reservations. 

• Informal groups of 10 or less can drop in and use the fields for recreational sports use. 

On non-Community Field Days, priority is given to permitted activities. If field isn’t in use for permitted activity or maintenance, drop in use is available.

Softball League

Winter season is currently in progress. Spring season begins on Sunday, April 6, 2025.

The City of Orange, in partnership with Major League Softball (MLS) offers slow pitch league for men, women, and co-eds.

Team Registration

League Fees
The team fee is $400-$430 (includes a one time non-refundable sign-up fee). A returning team's registration fees are $365-$395. Each team is required to pay $30 official fee prior to the first pitch of every game.

Basketball League

Winter season begins on Sunday, April 12, 2026. 

Men's adult basketball leagues are offered at the Sports Center at Grijalva Park.

Team Registration

League Fees

Additional Pickleball Options
Usage is first-come, first-served, with a 1-hour limit if others are waiting.

• Hart Park now features 10 lighted courts, shade, seating, and outdoor fitness equipment.
• El Camino Real Park now features two tennis courts with overlaid pickleball lines, accommodating both sports. These lit courts are available for play during park hours.
