Orange County Progresses from Orange Tier to Yellow

Yellow Tier

As designated by the State of California, Yellow Tier indicates a "minimal" risk level for transmission of COVID-19 based on several metrics, including number of positive cases per day, per 100,000 persons, low 7-day average positivity rate, and the availability of hospital ICU beds available.

Yellow Tier allows businesses and activities that were previously restricted or closed due to COVID-19 prevention guidelines to reopen (with modifications,) and already reopened businesses to expand their capacity/activity. View the status of a business or activity under the Yellow Tier here.

Health safety measures and vaccination rates contributed greatly to Orange County's ability to be one of only 13 counties to reach Yellow Tier.  Maintaining our vaccination rates and continuing to follow common sense health safety guidelines, such as frequent hand washing and wearing masks where appropriate,  will ensure that we remain in the least restrictive Tier.

As a reminder, the State has announced that California will fully reopen its economy across the state on June 15, 2021, if:

  • There is enough vaccine supply for Californians 16 years and older to be vaccinated
  • Hospitalizations rates remain stable and low, especially among fully vaccinated Californians
