1981
Original 1887 Plaza Fountain, restored and relocated to City of Orange Civic Center, is dedicated on April 6.
1982
Plaza Historic District is placed on the National Register of Historic Places March 19. Area includes 41 buildings dating from 1885-1929.
1983
The movie Monster in the Closet uses Orange Plaza for several scenes.
1984
The Olympic torchbearer travels around the Plaza.
1985
Orange welcomes its 100,000th resident.
1986
Old Towne Preservation Association formed. Participants in Toyota of Orange Fourth Annual 10K/5K Run go around the Plaza in April.
1988
City of Orange celebrates the Centennial of its incorporation! Television movie The Bridesmaids uses the Plaza and Old Towne as backdrop.
1989
Rededication on June 6th of newly restored bandshell in Hart Park.
