Governor Brown recently signed into law Assembly Bill 1379, requiring cities to increase the State Mandated Fee from $1.00 to $4.00. This fee is added to all Business License Applications and Renewals. The new fee was implemented January 1, 2018. See below for more information.
The City of Orange has initiated a tax audit program utilizing information from the Franchise Tax Board to identify businesses that may not be reporting and paying their annual business taxes. A Business License is required for any business owner, business entity, self-employed person or business organization based in or operating from Orange. This includes home based businesses, independent contractors, home offices, and others. State Mandated Fee:
On October 11, 2017, Governor Brown signed into law Assembly Bill 1379, directing cities to add an increased State Fee of $4.00 to any business license application or renewal, effective January 1, 2018. This fee will provide a funding source for increased education on disability access and compliance with construction-related accessibility requirements to facilitate compliance with the federal and state disability laws.
