Flooding Precautions Downstream from Canyon 2 Fire Area
Flooding often follows wildland fires during subsequent rain events. This flooding may also include “debris flows,” and can affect people who normally do not experience flooding resulting from normal rainfall. The United States Geological Survey (USGS) performs detailed studies of areas impacted by fire in an attempt to forecast the probability and severity of these flooding events.
The USGS has prepared a webpage for residents living in areas near the burn area of the Canyon 2 fire. Please click here to go to the USGS webpage. Please plan for possible flooding if you live in the outflow path of any one of the basin outlets affected by the fire. The City of Orange provides limited amounts of sandbags during inclement weather subject to supplies on hand. For more information regarding sandbags please click the link here.
