1000 Books Before Kindergarten (newborn-pre-K)
A free and fun reading program to encourage you to read 1000 books to your child before they enter kindergarten. Sign up at the Children's Desk at the Orange Public Library & History Center or via our READsquared app. Visit the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten webpage for more information, including tips, crafts, and activities for learning fun at home and on the go!

Celebrate Dia (all ages)
Celebrate Día with us! Visit our special event page during the month of April for some fun activities. Watch a bilingual storytime, create some colorful crafts and more! Find out how you can pick up a free book and craft kit.

Children, stop by the El Modena Branch Library for a special Take & Make craft kit and select a free book. Children, ages 5-12, must be present to receive craft kit and free book while supplies last.

Please Note: The El Modena Branch Library will remain closed and library services will not be offered at this time. Only the patio outside the library will be available for picking up the Take & Make Craft kits and free book giveaway.

Code Your Own Video Game with MakeCode Arcade

Name the Rhinoceros Contest (ages 2-12)
The Library needs help naming the Rhinoceros on the wall in the Children’s area! Visit the Children’s Library during the month of April to view the rhinoceros and cast your vote. Or enter online beginning April 1 by visiting this link. The child who submits the winning name will receive a special prize. Prize must be picked up at the Orange Public Library & History Center.
Play Money – DIY Piggy Bank (ages 3-6)
Children will get a chance to learn financial responsibility and express their creativity through this fun interactive activity! Each participating child will be given a set amount of play money and tasked with "purchasing” the supplies to decorate their own piggy bank. Items will have varying “prices,” and children must learn how to properly budget their money or make financial compromises to execute their artistic visions!
