Windy Ridge Fire
Fueled by dry weather and gusty winds, the Windy Ridge Fire burned more than 2,000 acres of northeastern Orange County earlier this week. Approximately 18 percent of the burn area is in the city of Orange, another 18 percent is in the city of Anaheim, while the majority is in an unincorporated area of the county of Orange.
The Joint Incident Command was comprised of a coalition of fire personnel from Orange, Anaheim and the Orange County Fire Authority. More than 950 firefighting personnel, including 125 engine companies from throughout the region, helped to fight the fire. Ten additional strike teams from as far away as San Jose were on the way, but were turned back when conditions improved. The City of Orange is deeply grateful for the extensive support received from cities and agencies throughout California.
