Sewer Replacement & Street Improvement Project

The existing 6-inch diameter sewer mainline on Harwood St. has reached the end of its life-cycle. This project will replace approximately 600 linear feet of the existing sewer mainline with a new 8-inch diameter vitrified clay pipe (VCP). The street improvements will improve the roadway from Palm Ave. to Sycamore Ave. and include removing and reconstructing all curb and gutter, damaged sidewalk, reconstructing street pavement, and re-striping the road. The City of Orange is the lead agency for the construction and maintenance of the utlity and will oversee the private contractor performing the work.

Construction Hours  7 am to 4 pm, Monday-Friday during street closure
7 am to 4 pm, Monday-Friday improvement work
Project Duration  Approx 30 days, early Sept. thru early Oct.

Harwood St. from Palm Ave. to Sycamore Ave. will be closed for approximately 2 weeks with no vehicular access for the area residents.  The street closure is tentatively scheduled to start on September 4, 2012 The schedule may shift due to inclement weather, supply issues, unanticipated utilities, and unforeseen conditions.

Businesses and residents should anticipate traffic delays and limtied access to their businesses and homes during certain periods of construction activity.
