Residential Permit Parking

There are numerous residential permit-parking areas within the City of Orange. These areas have been so designated upon the request of local residents in an effort to alleviate parking concerns they have experienced.

The following information is for your reference:

HOW DO I OBTAIN A PERMIT?

The residential parking permits are available from the Traffic Bureau at the Orange Police Department. You will need to provide proof of residency, i.e. a utility bill, a lease agreement etc. and your vehicle registration.

WHAT IS THE COST OF THE PERMITS?

There is a flat rate fee of $5.00 per residence.

HOW LONG ARE THE PERMITS GOOD FOR?

In most cases, permits are valid for three years (current permits expires December 31, 2012). All permits will expire at this time. Residents will be notified prior to expiration date regarding renewal procedures.

The exception to this are permits issued to Chapman University owned houses and students. Because of the transitory nature of residents in these houses, permits will be issued on an annual basis. These permits will expire on December 31st of each year. Residents of these homes can obtain the next year's permits, at no cost, by providing current proof of residence and by returning last year's issue.

HOW MANY PERMITS DO I GET?

Permits are issued depending on the density of housing on the residential parcel. For example, one single-family home on a parcel is entitled to up to seven permits; two homes per lot, four each; more than two on a lot, three each.

WHAT IF I'M HAVING A PARTY AND NEED MORE PERMITS?

Temporary parking permits are available from the Traffic Bureau at the police department. Please call Monday through Thursday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., at (714) 744-7451 to arrange to have these permits prepared.

Please note that no person shall make, duplicate, reproduce, transfer, sell or give any permit issued for the permit parking area without authorization of the City Council. Any violation shall be a misdemeanor and any misuse of abuse of the permit may result in its confiscation.
