The Orange Police Department's Narcotics and Vice Unit specializes in the investigation of crimes specific to narcotics, alcohol and vice issues such as prostitution and gambling. The unit aggressively investigates these crimes, often in undercover capacities, and arrests offenders whenever possible.
This area of law enforcement is quite unique, and requires specialized training in undercover operations, mobile filed surveillance techniques, specialized weaponry, and building entry tactics. The use of state of the art equipment enhances the safety of our personnel and assists the unit in achieving its goals.
The Narcotics Unit works closely with several local, state, and federal agencies to increase the effectiveness of law enforcement's war on drugs. We have participated in local, state and federal task forces to further this effort. Investigations frequently require travel outside of the City of Orange, which we gladly do in an effort to rid our community of illegal narcotics.
The unit's success is largely due to the citizens of Orange who report suspicious activity occurring in or near their schools, neighborhoods, and places of work. We also rely on the use of informants who provide us with valuable information on narcotic activity and the inner-workings of drug dealing operations.
