The Orange Police Department is divided into three divisions, each specializing in different aspects of police work. All three divisions work together to serve the citizens of Orange and to keep the city safe.
The Administrative Services Division supports the patrol and detective functions of the police department by providing services such as personnel, training, fiscal affairs, crime analysis and prevention, records, and facility maintenance.
The Investigative Services Division's primary function is to investigate and prepare cases for a successful prosecution by the Orange County District Attorney's Office. This division is led by a captain and is composed of several different units. Each unit focuses on specific types of crimes.
The Field Services Division consists of uniformed personnel who are primary responders to calls for service and are the the most visible aspect of the police department. There are several specialized units within the Field Services Division including the Bike Team, Canine Unit, Gang Unit, SWAT Team, Traffic Bureau, and Special Enforcement Detail.
