Everything Old is New Again
New Audiovisual Collection at the Orange Public Library & History Center
Deep down in a dark corner of the Library's basement, staff discovered a treasure trove of historic material of the City of Orange from the 1980s. Uncovered were over 200 audio and video materials only available in broadcast format and completely inaccessible even with modern technology. The Library applied for the California State Library's "Pitch an Idea Grant" in December 2010 and was awarded $29,500 for the "Local History Audiovisual Digital Preservation Project." The Pitch an Idea grant will enable us to make the historic audio and visual content available through DVD and CD, and in the near future, streaming at the Library's Local History Digital Database.
This project will keep the history of the City of Orange alive for years to come!
