Interlibrary Loan

If you would like to borrow a book from one of our neighboring libraries, you may do so through our inter-library loan service.

What is required?

1) A valid Orange Public Library Card.
2) Author, title, publisher, copyright date and edition of the book that you wish to borrow.

How long does it take to get a book?

Approximately 2-4 weeks, depending on availability and postal delivery. Sometimes books are not available because they are on-loan or are overdue, lost, or part of a non-circulating collection. While we cannot guarantee we can get a particular book, we do fill 90% of our requests.

How long may I borrow a book?

The lending library determines how long you may borrow a book. The average loan period is 2 to 4 weeks.

How much does it cost?

$2.00 per request + any additional fees charged by the lending library. We make every effort to fill requests from a library that does not charge fees for inter-library loan and most requests are filled without additional cost. We borrow books from libraries located throughout the U.S. Libraries listed in our online catalog do not charge fees for loaning their books unless they are overdue.

Can I renew books borrowed from another library?
