What do I need to access Wifi at Orange Public Library?
You will need an 802.11b or 802.11g capable notebook computer or other wireless Internet device, i.e., PDA or Pocket PC.
When and Where is WiFi available?
WiFi is available in all public areas of the Main, Taft, and El Modena libraries until 10 minutes before the library closes.
Some power outlets are available, but we suggest you have a fully charged battery.
For safety reasons, please do not run power cables along the floor where people may trip over them.
Is the library's WiFi filtered?
Yes - For unfiltered access, you will need to connect to the Internet using one of the library's wired Internet computers.
Is printing available from the library's WiFi?
No - Printing is available from the library's wired Internet computers. B&W prints are 15 cents per page and color prints are 60 cents per page.
Files must be saved to floppy disk, USB thumb drive, or sent as attachments to a web-accessible e-mail in order to be printed from the library's wired Internet computers.
Not all file types can be opened on the library's public computers.
How long may I use the library's WiFi?
At the present time, no time limits are imposed. WiFi is available until 10 minutes before the library closes.
Is using the library's WiFi private and secure?
The library's WiFi is not encrypted. You should be aware that information sent wirelessly could be intercepted and seen by others.
Protect your personal data when using any public wireless network, and avoid transmitting credit card numbers and other sensitive information.
