The City has adopted the California Fire Code (CFC) with amendments.Please see Title 15 of the Orange Municipal Code to view the adoption and amendments.Copies of the codes are available at the City Clerk’s Office for review.
The CFC prescribes regulations for the safeguarding, to a reasonable degree, of life and property from the hazards of fire explosion; from dangerous conditions arising from the storage, handling and use of hazardous materials and devices; and from conditions hazardous to life or property in the use or occupancy of buildings or premises.The CFC also contains provisions to assist emergency response personnel.
The California State Fire Marshal adopts and enforces Title 19 of the California Code of Regulations, parts of the California Fire Code, and Parts of the California Building Code.The City of Orange Fire Department represents the California State Fire Marshal, in most circumstances, within the City of Orange.
Effective July 1, 2011, all single family homes meeting certain criteria must be equipped with carbon monoxide alarms. Additionally, all other types of residences will fall under the requirement beginning on January 1, 2013. Please click here to learn more about this impending requirement.
