This website is designed to convey information about all of the ways in which the Fire Department serves the community. As an “all-risk” organization, the Orange CityFire Department provides emergency medical care at the paramedic level, fire suppression, technical rescue, fire prevention and code enforcement, hazardous materials regulation and emergency response, fire cause and arson investigation as well as public safety education services.
Our objective is to deliver excellent service each and every time we are called upon. Mission Statement
The mission of the Orange City Fire Department is to prevent or minimize the loss of life, damage to the environment, and loss of property from the adverse effects of fire, medical emergencies, and hazardous conditions.
About the mission Statement
It has been said that people call the fire department when they don’t know who else to call. This concept is captured in the mission statement of the Orange City Fire Department. The men and women of the OFD protect untold numbers of visitors and workers in addition to the more than 142,ooo* residents every day. The Prevention Section of the Services Division works to prevent and minimize emergencies before they happen.
When emergencies do happen, the Operations Division responds to, stabilizes, and mitigates them aggressively with well trained personnel and excellent equipment and fire engines. The Orange City Fire Department requires top-caliber firefighters due to the wide variety of possible emergencies in the city for which they have to prepare. They train for all kinds of fire and life safety emergencies that could occur in the city, including medical, high-rise, wild-land, railroad, pipeline, trench, confined space, swift-water, hazardous materials, terrorism, freeway, and structure fire emergencies, among others. The department goals grow out of the mission statement. They reflect the highest standards of the fire service across the nation:
DEPARTMENT GOALS
Provide rapid response and aggressive intervention for all emergencies to which the department is called with an average response time for the first arriving unit of under 5 minutes.
Maintain facilities, apparatus and equipment in an advanced state of readiness at all times.
Provide training programs for all personnel that are consistent with the highest professional standards of the fire service.
Administer the department budget in an effective and efficient manner, assuring the best possible utilization of fiscal resources.
Provide fire prevention and hazardous materials programs that assure the highest level of public safety possible.
Provide quality public education programs that address fire and life safety issues present in the community.
Coordinate emergency services activities to assist other city departments and the public in preparing for a disaster. Provide clothing and equipment which assures firefighter safety and the ability to respond to emergencies.
Find and apply for available Federal and State grant programs to provide for supplemental funding sources for new and existing Fire Department programs.
