The City of Orange Community Services Department sponsors an exceptional program that makes the holiday season extra special for Orange families experiencing financial hardships. With the help of the Orange Unified School District, the Community Services Department identifies families in need of a helping hand and proudly brings holiday cheer to children ages 1-12 and their families during the holiday season.
The Children's Holiday Breakfast helps families start off the holiday season with a warm and joyous feeling. If you would like to contribute to this wonderful event by donating gift cards and/or new unwrapped gifts, please email Emily Robinson at erobinson@cityoforange.org or call (714) 744-5599.
Thanksgiving Basket Program
Although this worthy program is no longer sponsored by the City of Orange, we are pleased a local non-profit charity, The Friendly Center, Inc. will continue the tradition and distribute food baskets to Orange families in need on Tuesday, November 20th. If you would like to donate a food basket or grocery gift card or have any questions regarding this program, please contact The Friendly Center at (714)771-5300.
Not sure what to include in your food basket? Here are a few suggestions:
A frozen turkey or $10-$15 grocery gift card to purchase a turkey
Box of potatoes
Box of stuffing
Can of cranberry suace
Yams/sweet potatoes
Canned/fresh vegetables
Cornbread
Marshmallows
Canned/fresh fruit
Rice
Bread/dinner rolls
Sparkling cider
A pumpkin pie or gift card to a restaurant or bakery
Candles and festive napkins are always a special touch. Please do not include alcoholic beverages in the baskets.
