Priority mail-in registration for Orange Residents ONLY will be accepted Friday May 9 - Friday, May 16, 2008. The Community Services 24-hour drop box is available for your convenience. Registration postmarked or dropped off prior to 7:30am on May 9, will not be processed until May 15, 2008.

The city has hired American Red Cross certified Lifeguard and Water Safety Instructors to ensure high-quality programming that is fun and safe. The city offers four sessions of both group and private swimming lessons at Hark Park Pool beginning Monday, June 16 and end Friday, August 15, 2008. At this time there are limited spaces available for levels 4, 5 and 6 group lessons.

Levels 1, 2 and 3 are at capacity. 

Group Lessons $40 per session, per participant

The American Red Cross "Learn to Swim" program is open for everyone 3 years old and older, including adults. All group lessons are designed to help participants lean to swim or improve their swimming skills with new strokes, stroke refinement, diving safety tips and techniques and more.

Sesson Dates:

Sessions are two weeks and meet Monday-Friday (10 class meetings) for 30 minutes each.

Session 1: June 16-June 27

Session 2: Jul 7- Jul 18

Session 3: Jul 21- Aug 1

Session 4: Aug 4- Aug 15

Hart Park Group Lessons are divided into the following levels:

Class LevelClass RatioDescription
Level 1**5:1

For beginners with little or no water experience. The object of the level 1 is to help students feel comfortable in the water and to enjoy that water safely. Must be 3 years old by the first day of lessons.

Level 25:1Students learn the fundamentals of front crawl, back crawl, turning over while floating and water safety. This is a difficult level to pass most students repeat it twice.
Level 36:1Refinement of front and back crawl and endurance. New skilss include elementary backstroke and front dives. It is best to have students repeat this class twice.
Level 47:1Refinement of all previous strokes. New skills include breaststroke, sidestroke and elements of the butterfly.
Level 57:1Refinement of all previous strokes including breaststroke and sidestroke. New skills include open turns and springboard diving.
Level 67:1Refinement of all strokes, increased endurance and conditiong. Introduces students to competitive swimming.

*Note: Class offerings change due to level demand.

**Private lessons are reccomended but not mandatory for level 1.

Parent & Me Water Introduction $20 per session, per couple

Under the guidance of a certified Water Safety Instructor, parents will interactively engage their little ones in water play, while preparing them for future swim lessons. Class sizes are limited to eight couples, per class.

Session Dates:

Session are one week and meet Monday-Friday (5 class meetings) for 30 minutes each.

Session 1B: Jun 23 - Jun 27

Session 2A: Jul 7 - Jul 11

Session 2B: Jul 14 - Jul 18

Session 3A: Jul 21 - Jul 25

Session 3B: Jul 28 - Aug 1

Private Lessons $96 - $240, per participant

Private lessons are 1 on 1 and recommended for any child under the age of 3 or for children with special needs and attention. Instructors are trained to modify each lesson for the individual child or adult's needs. Sessions are for 30 minutes each and run in the same two week session as group lessons. Dates are listed above under Group Lessons.

Aqua Aerobics 10 Weeks, $20 Check out photos from our Summer 2007 classes!

Enjoy the evening air as you get a full body cardio work out. This aquatic excercise program is an adapted version of the Arthritis/YMCA Foundation Aquatic Program, which is designed to help to sustain and improve joint mobility, tone muscles, and improve endurance levels, in a fun supportive class environment. No class will be held on July 3, 2008.

Swimmers under the age of 7 must be accompanied by an adult and children under the age of 5 must be accompanied by an adult in the water. No refunds are given for unexpected pool closures. Please call the Hart Park Pool Hotline at (714) 744-5518 for pool closures updates and pool rules.


KIDS RULE THE POOL!

An evening especially for kids! Bring you friends, swimsuit, towel, and get ready to have a blast at Hart Park Pool. This event - for kids only- allows them to enjoy an evening of music, swimming and group games. Parents are welcome to watch from the pool deck.

Ages: 7-15

When: Friday July 18 and Friday August 15, Hart Park Pool.

Time: 7:15pm-9:15pm

Fee: $5 per person, per night, refreshments included.

Important Information: A swimsuit is required to enter the pool.

A parent or guardian will need to bring each child in order to fill out a liability form. If you are unable to bring your child, you may pick up a liability form at Hart Park Pool anytime before the event and send a completed liablility form with your child.
