The Building Division is comprised of four sections: Permit Services (front counter), Plan Check, Inspection Services and Code Compliance.
Permit Services staff the Building counter, field building-related phone inquiries, calculate and collect permit and development fees, and issue permits.
Plan Check The City’s Plan Check staff is responsible for reviewing plans for new residential, commercial, and industrial construction, non-residential tenant improvements, and home improvements. The plan checkers have expert knowledge of the Building Code, and often interact with the public, providing explanations of their comments, and suggested approaches to plan revisions. Plan Check staff also coordinate closely with the City’s Fire Department on the review of plans.

Building Inspectors are also responsible for issuing Stop Work notices for any construction project being worked on without the appropriate City permits.
