City Compensation

Mayor and City Council:

  • On November 12, 2011, the City Council adopted Ordinance No. 17-11 which eliminated all compensation received by City Council members elected in or after November, 2012.

 City Manager:

  • All compensation is set forth in the City Manager’s employment contract and the Top Management Salary Resolution.  Click here.
  • The employment contract sets out all the details of the City Manager’s terms and conditions of employment including term of agreement, performance review, termination provisions and compensation.
  • The City Manager’s current compensation set forth in his contract is $17,756 per month ($213,072 annually).  In addition he receives an annual deferred compensation contribution of $12,000.  The City Manager is subject to the 5% furlough consistent with other non-safety City employees.
  • The City Manager does not receive a car allowance, nor is he provided with a City vehicle.
  • Other compensation/benefits are consistent with those provided to Top Management employees and they are set forth in the Management Salary resolution.  They include:
    • Health Insurance Cafeteria Plan - $1,475.00 per month
    • Life Insurance
    • Long-term Disability Insurance
    • PERS Retirement (Manager pays 8.0% of salary to PERS)
    • Money Purchase Retirement Plan - Receives an additional 3% in compensation to contribute to a 401(a) deferred comp account.
    • Annual Physical Exam Program - Up to $850 per year.

Executive Management:

  • Executive Management compensation and benefits are set forth in a resolution adopted by the City Council on an annual basis.
  • Executive Managers pay 8.0% of salary to PERS retirement costs.

All Other Employees/Bargaining Groups:

  • Click here for Memorandums of Understanding for the City's eight employee bargaining groups. 
  • Depending on the bargaining group, City employees pay the full or near full amount of the employee's share of PERS retirement costs, which ranges from 8.0% to 9.0% of salary.
